Built for Speed
Electric is one of the fastest types in the Pokédex on average. Zeraora tops the type at 143 base Speed, Weavile-tier speed most types can't touch, and Espeon-adjacent picks like Raichu (110 Speed) round out a roster where outrunning the opponent is the default plan rather than the exception. That speed pairs with real special firepower -- Zeraora also carries 102 Special Attack, and Ampharos and Electivire both clear 95 in their respective attacking stats.
The Pikachu Paradox
Pikachu is the most recognizable Pokémon in the franchise, yet its competitive stats -- 90 Speed, 50 Special Attack -- are modest next to the legendaries and fully-evolved Pokémon that actually define the type. That gap between cultural icon and competitive pick is unique to Electric among the types with a mascot; most of the type's real power sits in Zapdos, Raikou, and Thundurus (all 580 base stat total) and the box legends Zekrom (680) and Miraidon (670).
Matchups
Electric moves are super effective against Water and Flying, two of the most common types in the game, and Electric itself resists Flying and Steel. Its only real gap is Ground, which is immune to Electric-type moves entirely -- a single well-placed Ground-type answer neutralizes an Electric sweeper outright.
