Surprisingly Fragile for a "Rock"

Despite what the name suggests, Rock has no immunities and only four resistances, while being weak to five types -- Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel -- the most weaknesses of any type covered here. The Pokémon that carry it compensate with raw stats rather than typing: Tyranitar (134 Attack, 110 Defense) and Rhyperior (140 Attack, 130 Defense, also Ground-typed) are both built to take a hit and answer with a bigger one.

Where the Type Actually Delivers

Rock is super effective against four types -- Fire, Ice, Flying, and Bug -- making it one of the few reliable answers to Flying-type sweepers in particular, since few other types threaten Flying as consistently. Diancie and Tyranitar both reach a 600 base stat total, and Terrakion (580) leads the type's non-mythical legendary tier.
