Narrow Offense, Kanto Royalty

Poison is super effective against just two types, Grass and Fairy, the narrowest offensive spread of any type covered on this site. What it lacks in reach it makes up in Kanto-era pedigree -- Venusaur and Gengar, two of the original generation's most iconic Pokémon, are both part-Poison, and Gengar's 130 Special Attack / 110 Speed made it a defining glass cannon long before the competitive scene had a name for the archetype.

The Modern Wall

Toxapex represents Poison's other extreme: 152 Defense and 142 Special Defense (with Water typing layered on) make it one of the tankiest walls in the modern game, leaning entirely on Poison's four resistances -- Grass, Fighting, Poison, and Fairy -- rather than raw offense. Eternatus (690 base stat total) is the single highest base stat total of any Pokémon featured across this site's type pages.
